This is the first new single from the forthcoming 14-song album No Defenses.

Every recording I’ve made since 2018 has been a collaboration with producer Kevin Salem. Typically I sing some basic architecture into my phone on my porch in Fanwood, Kevin pours a drum and bass foundation in Woodstock, I report to the worksite and we collaborate on the rest. Kevin is the master craftsman who lays all the brick. I pace the perimeter, nagging the builder with ideas that he fully digested before they even came to me and rarely breaking a sweat until it’s time to sing.

“Somerset” is our first track that began with Kevin, whose rough demo sounded like a humid August breeze. I wrote some lyrics with that feeling in mind, we rearranged it and Kevin turned it into something I never could have conceived on my own. I hope you like it!
